Mark Twain Bio
Samuel Langhorne Clemons was born on Nov. 30 1835. His parents were John Marshall and Jane Lampton Clemons. He was born in Florida,MO. He has lived in many places like Hanninbal MO, St. Louis, New York City and many other interesting places. In St. Louis and New York he worked in printshops, and did some journalism. Samuel Clemons left school at the age of twelve, and started smoking at nine. In 1861 he became a solider in the Confederate army. He was also interested and in prospecting and did that some before becoming a writer. After he was released from the army and he began writing he started using his penname Mark Twain in 1863. On Febuary second 1870 Mark Twain married Olivia Langdon. Later that year in November Olivia gave birth to his first son named Langdon Clemons. Two years later Olivia gave birth to their second child , Twains first daughter named Susan Olivia who was born In March of 1872. In 1876 Twain wrote one of his most famous books called The adventures of Tom Sawyer. In 1880 Olivia gave birth to Marks second daughter named Jean Clemons, also in 1880 Twain wrote another very succesful novel called A Tramp Abroad. In 1884 Twain wrote another very famous book called The Adventures of Hucklebury Finn.
In 1888 Twain was given a Master of the Arts degree by Yale. After that he continued writing many books that were all very successful like Tom Sawyer Abroad, Tom Sawyer the Detective , or Personal recollections of Joan of Arc. In 1901 he was given a Doctrine of Literature from Yale. Finally in 1910 he died. After his Death many letters he had written to people were published, there are still books about Twain being published, like one of the newest books which is made up of all of Mark Twains quotes. There have also been several movies made about Mark Twains life not to mention the movies made about some of his books.
Twain was known for his white suit and always having a cigar in his mouth.
